respect ©opyright! – a school event on the theme of authors’ rights!

The Internet offers many ways in which to consume culture. Young people are often uncertain and incorrectly advised as to what is allowed and what is prohibited.

The Swiss collective rights management organisations ProLitteris, SSA, SUISA, SUISSIMAGE and SWISSPERFORM have created a school event on authors’ rights under the name “respect ©opyright!”. Its goal is to teach young people respect for artistic creativity (including their own) and the creative people behind it.

Organisation of the event

A well-known artist visits a school, accompanied by a presenter. In a one-hour presentation, they provide the youngsters with correct and accurate information on the subject of authors' rights in a creative and interactive manner. In addition to concert interludes (possibly in conjunction with a school band) and a competition, the theory is conveyed within the framework of a chaired discussion with the artist.

For upper level classes and schools

The aim of this event is to educate pupils aged 12 and above and their teachers on the subject of authors’ rights. The events are always carried out for several parallel classes, i.e. for 100 up to a maximum of 200 pupils. The events are free of charge.
